In November of 2000, the NAA Board of Commissioners formally adopted a Noise Abatement Award Program for operators, tenants or transient flight crews that continually operate or work toward furthering the airport's Noise Abatement Program.
The idea was sponsored by the Noise Compatibility Committee, whose Chairman recommended that pilots and/or corporations be recognized semi-annually for their contribution toward operating in a manner consistent with the airport's Noise Abatement Program. This program has been very successful at other airports.
Examples for the award include:
- a company/or individual who consistently operates their aircraft within the guidelines of the voluntary curfew;
- an operator who has helped develop/promote quiet flying techniques within the corporate community;
- a tenant or operator who insists that people who sub-lease space operate a Stage 3 aircraft within the guidelines of the voluntary curfew periods;
- a company/or individual that promotes the airport's Noise Abatement Program above and beyond that required.
Two awards will be provided annually (unless there are no nominations). A trophy is awarded to the recipient and a continual plaque has been established in the General Aviation Terminal with the names of the past and present winners.
If you would like to make a nomination for this prestigious award, please contact the Noise Abatement Office at 239-643-1140.
